Russia Resumes Bombing of Eastern Aleppo After Several Days Pause

Syrian activists and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights report that Russia has resumed bombing the eastern part of Aleppo on Tuesday after a few days of pause. Meanwhile, Zakaria Malhafji, an opposition fighter in eastern Aleppo, told Reuters that most of the bombings today were concentrated on the 'Bustan al-Qasr' neighborhood. He added that after a few days, the bombings resumed and were very intense. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, based in Britain, also states that at least 25 people were killed and dozens injured in Tuesday's bombings. However, rescue workers and residents in the rebel-controlled area claim at least 50 people were killed in these attacks. According to citizens, a medical center and a children's playground were also targeted in Tuesday's bombings. According to Reuters, the Syrian army and Iranian-backed Shiite forces have announced that they have managed to take control of the 'Jandoul' area in northern Aleppo. The report states that Russia and the Syrian government had reduced their attacks and bombings in eastern Aleppo last week. The Syrian army had stated that they reduced attacks on the rebel-controlled areas to allow residents to leave eastern Aleppo. The Syrian government previously announced that rebel forces in eastern Aleppo could safely leave the area with their families if they laid down their arms. The opposition has rejected this request from the Syrian government. According to Reuters, Syrian government forces are trying to completely capture the city of Aleppo. Aleppo was the most populous city in Syria before the war began five and a half years ago. The city is now divided into government-controlled and rebel-controlled sections. The civil war in Syria has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. During this time, millions have been displaced from their homes.
