Russian Communist Party Calls for Investigation into Possible Western Interference in Stalin's Death

The Russian news agency 'RIA' reported on Tuesday, March 5, that the Communist Party of Russia has requested the security service (FSB) and the prosecutor's office of the country to investigate the 'possible interference of Western intelligence services in the death of Joseph Stalin, the leader of the Soviet Union, in 1953.' According to Reuters, Sergey Malinkovich, the Secretary-General of the Communist Party of Russia, stated: 'The party has requested the Prosecutor General's Office and the security service of the Russian Federation to examine the possibility of Western intelligence services' involvement in the death of Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin.' So far, there has been no response from these agencies to the party's request, which was made public on the anniversary of Stalin's death. The Communist Party of Russia was formed in 2012 as a split from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. Stalin led the former Soviet Union from 1924 until his death on March 5, 1953, at the age of 71. His leadership was marked by the suppression of opponents and former colleagues in the Communist Party such as Trotsky, Bukharin, Zinoviev, and Kamenev, as well as the purging of the Red Army from commanders like Tukhachevsky. During this period, based on very conservative estimates, around 4 million people were arrested for political reasons, 786,000 were executed, and 44,000, including most of his colleagues, were shot on Stalin's orders. Overall, the repressions during his rule impacted the lives of about 17 million people.
