Russian Drone Attack on Ukrainian City Leaves Two Dead and 12 Injured

A Russian drone attack on the city of Sumy in northeastern Ukraine on Friday morning, December 2, left two dead and 12 injured. According to Reuters, the attack, which occurred around 5 AM local time, severely damaged 12 apartment buildings, 5 houses, one store, and three vehicles. This attack is part of a series of extensive Russian assaults on critical infrastructure in the region. Previously, a Russian drone attack on the city of Holokiv in the same area resulted in 12 deaths, including one child. Additionally, a missile attack last week on Sumy killed 11 people and injured 89 others. These attacks also led to power outages in the administrative center of the Sumy region. Ukrainian officials and international experts have emphasized that these attacks continue to target civilian infrastructure and create humanitarian crises in various parts of Ukraine. The United States reported that Russia used a new missile in its attack on Ukraine, while Ukraine stated that Russia attacked for the first time with an intercontinental ballistic missile. A new military aid package of $275 million from the United States to Ukraine was also announced.
