Sadegh Larijani: Those who send green lights to the enemy are waging war and corrupting the earth

Sadegh Amoli Larijani, the head of Iran's judiciary, on Monday, June 19, referred to those who, according to him, "show green lights to the enemy from within the country" as "waging war and corrupting the earth." According to the Mizan news agency, Amoli Larijani described the remarks of Rex Tillerson, the U.S. Secretary of State, as "interventionist" and stated: "Security forces, the Ministry of Intelligence, and the IRGC must pay attention to who is showing green lights to the enemy from within. Those who cooperate with the enemy are either waging war or corrupting the earth and their actions must be closely monitored." Last week, Rex Tillerson emphasized the need to "contain Iran's ability to develop nuclear weapons" and stated that "the U.S. policy is to support elements within Iran that lead to a peaceful change of this government." He did not specify these "elements" in his speech before the House Foreign Affairs Committee. In his remarks on Monday, the head of the judiciary emphasized the need for a decisive response to the "interventionist, undiplomatic, and unconventional statements of the U.S. Secretary of State," asserting that "this enmity has a long history." He continued: "The enmity of the U.S. has multiple manifestations and is intensifying day by day." Amoli Larijani cited Donald Trump's recent visit to Saudi Arabia and the "provocation of regional countries against the Islamic Republic" as well as the recent Senate sanctions as examples of this enmity. Previously, Bahram Qasemi, the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, reacted to the U.S. Secretary of State's remarks, calling Tillerson's statements "unacceptable," "immature and unmeasured," "interventionist," and a "clear violation of international rules." In another part of his remarks, Amoli Larijani stated: "Unfortunately, some within the country are showing green lights to the enemies and sending signals that create greed among the enemies. Some of these individuals are waging war, and some are corrupting the earth." The head of the judiciary also urged "security forces, especially the Ministry of Intelligence and the IRGC" to "vigilantly monitor and uncover these groups." According to Sadegh Amoli Larijani, "the judiciary will also confront these individuals without any fear of the noise and propaganda of human rights claimants." The Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved a proposal on June 14 calling for new sanctions against Iran. These sanctions are aimed at Iran's development of ballistic missiles, support for Islamist militant groups, arms transfers, and human rights violations in the country. The U.S. Secretary of State had previously welcomed these new sanctions against Iran. The head of the judiciary criticized these sanctions, stating: "No nation will submit to such humiliation." Since Donald Trump's election as President of the United States, tensions in Iran-U.S. relations have increased. During the election campaign, Trump stated that if elected, he would tear up the JCPOA. Two weeks ago, during a visit to Israel, he emphasized that Iran, alongside ISIS, poses a threat to peace and stability in the region. He has repeatedly criticized the terms of the agreement between Iran and the P5+1 countries, stating that the JCPOA has not benefited U.S. interests. In response, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has emphasized that experiences such as distrust of the U.S. should be used in governing the country. On June 18, the leader described the new U.S. administration as "inexperienced and novice thugs" who "do not understand the Iranian nation and do not know what they are doing against Iran."
