Saeed Rad, Renowned Actor, Passes Away at 79

Saeed Rad, the renowned actor, has passed away. Media in Iran reported his death "after enduring a period of illness." Just yesterday, a family member had reported on the deteriorating health of the cinema actor. Negah Rad, Saeed Rad's daughter, stated yesterday: "My father has been suffering from an injury since last September, and after two surgeries and physiotherapy, he still could not walk. He has been bedridden for 10 months and is currently under the care of a doctor at a clinic in Tehran, but the treatment is not progressing well, and his condition has not improved." Negah Rad referred to the physical problems that her father faced over the past year, saying: "Saeed Rad fell at home and sustained an injury. After going to the hospital, he underwent surgery and was later discharged. He was resting at home and after a month was able to walk with a walker." She explained the recovery process of Saeed Rad: "The previous problem re-emerged because the prosthesis used was not properly positioned in his back, and after returning to the hospital, he underwent surgery again. After the operation, he underwent continuous physiotherapy for 8 weeks, but unfortunately, despite the physiotherapy, he could no longer walk." She noted that her father is currently 79 years old and continued: "Gradually, since late last year, other problems such as lung and bladder infections added to my father's walking issues, and despite my and my family's objections, he underwent surgery with his own consent, but unfortunately, the operation was not successful." Saeed Rad was a famous cinema and television actor born on October 26, 1947, in Tehran. His real name was "Ahmad Saeed Haqiqi-Parast Rad," and he was born in the Hasangabad neighborhood of Tehran. He was originally from Junqan in the Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province; his father was an Air Force officer, and his mother was a housewife. According to media reports, his father was a member of the Tudeh Party and was politically active before being assassinated prior to the revolution. He began acting at the age of 24 and was married twice. Saeed Rad acted in about 35 feature films from 1971 to 1978. In 1981, after the revolution, at the age of 37, he returned to acting with the film "Marz" directed by Jamshid Heydari alongside Davood Rashidi and Ahoo Kheradmand. Saeed Rad was banned from working in 1984, but later he left Iran and lived for a while in India, Canada, and the United States. Ultimately, he returned to Iran in 1999 at the age of 55 and acted in the feature film "Duel" directed by Ahmadreza Darvish in 2003.
