Sajad Imannejad, a detainee from the nationwide protests, sentenced to 11 years in prison and ordered to pay blood money

Sajad Imannejad, one of the detainees from the nationwide protests of 2022, has been sentenced to eleven years in prison and ordered to pay more than 2.7 billion tomans in blood money by the Revolutionary Court in Tehran for charges including what is termed 'moharebeh' (waging war against God). According to the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, Hrana, Imannejad was sentenced to ten years in exile in the city of Iranshahr for the charge of 'moharebeh' and one year in prison for 'causing intentional injury with a cold weapon,' taking into account his previous detention time, along with the payment of over 2.7 billion tomans in blood money to seven plaintiffs who are government security agents. An informed source close to his family told Hrana that Sajad Imannejad suffers from a herniated disc and despite being transferred several times to Shahid Tajrish Hospital for treatment during his detention, he was returned to prison without any medical action under the pretext of a lack of available beds. According to this informed source, the officials related to his case continue to refuse to grant him medical leave, and the herniated disc and physical problems have made it difficult for Sajad to endure his imprisonment. Sajad Imannejad was arrested on October 8 of last year during the nationwide protests by government forces in Tehran and was initially transferred to Greater Tehran Prison and then to Evin Prison. His trial session was held on November 20, 2023. Sajad Imannejad, born in 1991, is a citizen from Ardabil, residing in Tehran, single, and holds a bachelor's degree in architecture and drafting.
