Salehi: Iran Sanctions to Be Announced Lifted on Monday

Ali Akbar Salehi, the head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization, stated that the European Union will announce the lifting of sanctions against Iran next Monday, and the United States will also lift some sanctions while suspending others. Salehi's remarks were reflected on Thursday, October 15, in the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), which also mentioned that a group of Iranian negotiators, including Abbas Araqchi, Deputy Foreign Minister, and Behrouz Kamalvandi, Deputy of the Atomic Energy Organization, are heading to Vienna regarding the implementation of the nuclear agreement. According to this Iranian official, 'If everything goes according to plan, it is highly likely that Monday will be the day of the approval of the JCPOA, and the parties will officially announce their acceptance of the JCPOA.' The Iranian Parliament approved the nuclear agreement implementation plan, known as the JCPOA, on Tuesday with 161 votes in favor, 59 against, and 13 abstentions, which the Guardian Council immediately confirmed without any changes. On Thursday, Ali Larijani, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, conveyed the JCPOA implementation law to Hassan Rouhani, the President of Iran. Meanwhile, Salehi stated that the date of the JCPOA's implementation will be determined when the Islamic Republic takes steps towards its commitments, including bringing the number of centrifuges at Natanz and Fordow to the agreed number in the JCPOA and replacing the previous reactor tank in Arak with a new one. He mentioned that these actions will be carried out 'according to a roadmap and within 45 to 60 days,' and thus it is hoped that by 'late Azar or early Dey, we will witness the implementation of the JCPOA.' The head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization had previously emphasized that although the European Union will officially announce the lifting of sanctions on the day of the JCPOA's approval, its implementation will be postponed until Tehran takes practical actions.
