Saman Yasin to Mohseni Ejei: You Executed Me Artificially, Took Me to a Mental Hospital, Just Take My Life and End It

Saman Yasin (Seydi), a protesting rapper, wrote a letter to Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, the head of the judiciary of the Islamic Republic, stating that he has been moved between prisons in Tehran and Karaj for 18 months without any evidence or documentation. He wrote: 'You executed me artificially, took me to a mental hospital, what more do you want to do to me? Just take my life and end it.' In this letter published on Yasin's Instagram page, he mentioned that 'court dates have been set for me multiple times in these 18 months, but they have not been held.' This protesting rapper pointed out that he is still suffering from mental, psychological, and physical problems, and the incompetent authorities are not even able to send him to medical facilities. He asked the head of the judiciary: 'What crime have I committed?' He added: 'If I am guilty, then give me a prison sentence; if I am not guilty, then drop the charges.' Yasin also expressed that he does not understand 'the reason for all this anger, harassment, and abuse from the judicial authorities' against him, stating: 'I request execution from you' and added: 'I cannot bear the prison and uncertainty for a crime that neither you know nor I do.' He also wrote that 'I have no objection and I give my written consent with my fingerprint and signature!' Yasin continued to say that his life is 'in shambles, you have taken my mental and physical health, you executed me artificially, took me to a mental hospital, what more do you want to do to me? Just take my life and end it.' This political prisoner referred to the torture he endured during his detention in a voice file released to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network, mentioning artificial execution, a torn nasal cavity due to the torture of security interrogators, and pressure to make forced confessions. Saman Yasin, a singer who participated in the nationwide protests last year following the death of Mahsa Amini in custody of the morality police, was arrested in October 2022 in Tehran and was initially sentenced to death for 'moharebeh' (waging war against God). This sentence was overturned by the Supreme Court and his case was referred back to court for reconsideration. Recently, Javaid Rehman, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, described the human rights situation in Iran as a 'bitter reality' and called on the international community to not remain silent against the widespread violations of human rights in Iran. Previously, Michelle Taylor, the US permanent representative to the UN Human Rights Council, also criticized the 'blatant disregard of the Iranian regime for human rights and freedom of expression.' A member of the German Parliament and Saman Yasin's political sponsor stated: 'Saman has been tortured in Evin.' The US has protested against the artificial execution and torture of protesters, including Saman Yasin, in a conversation with Nazila Golestani. The Kurdistan Human Rights Network reported that Saman Yasin's health status is 'unsatisfactory.' The US reacted to reports of torture and artificial execution of Saman Yasin, stating it is a violation of human rights.
