Samane Yasin's Account of Beating in Psychiatric Hospital: I Was Unconscious for 24 Hours

Samane Yasin, a jailed rapper, claims he was injected with a syringe at the Aminabad psychiatric center and has identified 'Judge Salavati and other officials' as responsible for his health and life. In a letter, he wrote that after being transferred to Razi Psychiatric Hospital on Saturday, July 31, he was beaten by agents who, despite his resistance, injected him with medication while he was restrained to a bed with an 'electric shocker.' According to this letter, published on the human rights website 'Hengaw' on Saturday, August 7, Samane Yasin was unconscious for more than 24 hours after the injection and experienced visual disturbances and imbalance upon regaining consciousness. The 27-year-old protester mentioned multiple blows to his head and the injection of an unknown drug, leading to symptoms such as 'blurred and far-sightedness,' 'imbalance,' and 'dizziness,' adding that upon waking, he had 'devices' attached to his head. Samane Yasin emphasized that over the past 10 months, he has been pressured 'multiple times for confession' to take medication and receive injections. In part of his letter, he referred to 'nameless and strange pills' that continue to be administered to him after his return to prison on Tuesday, August 3, which he has refused to take. Following the publication of his message regarding his 10-month uncertainty in prison and lack of access to a chosen lawyer, he was transferred from Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj to Razi Psychiatric Hospital without the knowledge of his family or appointed lawyer on Saturday, July 31. This imprisoned rapper also denied previous reports about his suicide in prison, holding prison officials responsible for 'forcibly' feeding him 'four pills' that led to his unconsciousness. Reports of Samane Yasin's suicide attempts in prison last winter had sparked significant reactions. In part of his letter, he also reported attempts by prison officials to 'strip' him and take him to a 'communal bath,' stating that after his resistance, he was returned to prison. This imprisoned protester, highlighting the effects of beatings and the injection of unknown drugs at Razi Psychiatric Hospital, as well as the torture during his detention, has called for an examination by a forensic doctor and treatment by a specialist doctor in the hospital. Samane Yasin described rap as 'the people's song and the voice of injustice' and stated that his crime is 'song,' noting that despite being deprived of access to a lawyer, his court date has been set for September 9. This protesting rapper was arrested in October last year during protests against the killing of Mahsa (Jina) Amini by the Islamic Republic's security forces in Tehran and is currently facing charges including 'moharebeh' (waging war against God).
