Second Day of the Republican National Convention; Nikki Haley Strongly Defends Trump's Hardline Approach Towards Iran

Nikki Haley, a former candidate in the Republican primaries for the 2024 U.S. presidential election, spoke at the Republican National Convention on Tuesday night, stating that we must support Donald Trump for our country. Haley, on the second day of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, said: 'Some people may not agree with Trump one hundred percent; I know some of them, and I want to say something to them, I have a message for them: 'I have not always agreed with President Trump, but we are united in keeping America strong. We agree on keeping America safe.' The former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations added that for those who have doubts about Trump, she has something to say: 'During Barack Obama's presidency, Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine, and during Joe Biden's presidency, Putin invaded all of Ukraine. However, during Trump's presidency, Putin did nothing; there was no war, and this is not a coincidence.' In another part of her speech, she said: 'Look at the Middle East; every problem in this part of the world relates to Iran. The dictator of Iran finances and arms Hamas and Hezbollah.' Nikki Haley stated: 'They are behind the brutal killings by Hamas and the hostage-taking in Israel.' She also referred to the 2015 nuclear agreement with Iran, known as the JCPOA, saying: 'Trump withdrew from this 'stupid' nuclear deal and imposed the heaviest sanctions on the Islamic Republic.' It is noteworthy that during Barack Obama's administration, heavy sanctions were imposed by the United States and its allies against the Islamic Republic, including in the energy and banking sectors, which were lifted after the JCPOA was reached. After the U.S. withdrawal from the JCPOA during Trump's presidency, U.S. sanctions against the Iranian government were reinstated, and despite the lifting of international sanctions, many companies and countries exited Iran out of fear of U.S. sanctions. Joe Biden and his Democratic administration believe the JCPOA keeps Tehran's nuclear activities under control, and the U.S. withdrawal from it not only intensified these activities, especially uranium enrichment, but also severely reduced international oversight of those activities. Nikki Haley, a young but well-known Republican politician, further stated that Donald Trump 'eliminated the great terrorist,' Qassem Soleimani, referring to the killing of the former commander of the Quds Force in Iraq by Trump's order in 2020. She added: 'Iran was too weak to start a war. They knew Trump was a dealmaker and feared him. Now Joe Biden has lifted sanctions; he tried to return to the nuclear deal; he surrendered Afghanistan to the Taliban. He showed every sign of weakness.'
