Second Deadly Shooting in Serbia; 8 Dead, 13 Injured

In the second shooting incident in Serbia, at least 8 people were killed and 13 others were injured. The shooting occurred on Thursday night in the city of Mladenovac, located fifty kilometers south of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. The assailant, who appeared to be around 20 years old, suddenly opened fire on a crowd and fled the scene. The search for the suspect continued until Friday morning, and Reuters reported that he was arrested in southern Belgrade in the presence of police. No motive for the attack has been reported yet. This shooting in the suburbs of the capital came just a day after a 14-year-old student opened fire at a school in Belgrade, killing at least 8 students. According to the Associated Press, people in Serbia are in shock from these two incidents. Authorities declared three days of public mourning. The Minister of Interior described the Thursday incident as a 'terrorist act'. The Minister of Education of Serbia also referred to the school shooting as a major tragedy in Serbia and in the history of the country's education system. The last time a shooting of this scale occurred was in 2013 when a war veteran killed 13 people in a village. Additionally, there were reports of renewed shootings from police towards protesters in Sistan and Baluchestan, resulting in 6 casualties in 'Fanouj'. There were also reports of shootings between Azerbaijani and Armenian forces, with the U.S. urging both sides to resume peace talks. A former member of the Indian parliament was killed during a live television broadcast, and a shooting near a bank in Louisville, Kentucky, left five dead.
