Security Agencies Fabricate Case Against Political Prisoner Ahmadreza Haeri

On Thursday, October 18, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network reported that security agencies are fabricating a case against Ahmadreza Haeri, a political prisoner held in Qazalhasar Prison in Karaj. This political prisoner is facing new charges under pressure from security agencies. According to this human rights organization, on Wednesday, October 17, a hearing was held for him on charges of "propaganda against the regime" and "spreading falsehoods." The hearing took place via video conference at the First Investigation Branch of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office in Karaj. The Instagram page attributed to this political prisoner confirmed this matter, stating: "This case fabrication is based on pressure from security agencies and reports and complaints from the officials of Qazalhasar Prison due to the letters and reports of this imprisoned human rights activist against the torture of prisoners and his activities against the death penalty in the 'No to Execution Tuesdays' campaign." In recent months, Ahmadreza Haeri has informed about the situation of several political prisoners in Qazalhasar Prison, including Saman Yasin, Qasem Abasteh, and Ayoub Kariki. In June of this year, Ahmadreza Haeri's brother reported his transfer to solitary confinement after protesting the "critical situation" of Saman Yasin, a protesting rapper. At that time, the Campaign to Defend Political and Civil Prisoners reported that this punitive action was carried out on May 20, by the order of Sadaat Rasool, the head of the intelligence protection of Qazalhasar Prison. Previously, Ahmadreza Haeri criticized "discrimination against prisoners" in a letter to Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, the head of the judiciary of the Islamic Republic, stating that "commissioned" prisoners, often economic offenders, receive "special and unique facilities." Mr. Haeri himself has been imprisoned since early spring 2022 on charges of "conspiracy and collusion with the intent to commit a crime against national security" and "propaganda against the regime," and was sentenced to over three years in prison. Letters from three political prisoners in Qazalhasar Prison state that the denial of medical treatment for Afshin Bayamani and Saman Yasin is "systematic murder." Ahmadreza Haeri's summons to the prosecutor's office in Karaj; informed sources indicate that the case fabrication is for exposing torture and executions.
