An unnamed defense official, speaking on intelligence matters, shared the video with the Associated Press. In it, commandos land on a stack of containers on the ship's deck. In the film, a crew member is heard saying, 'Don't come out.' He then tells his colleagues to go to the ship's bridge as more commandos descend onto the deck. One of the commandos can be seen kneeling above the others to provide possible covering fire for them. Although the Associated Press could not immediately verify the authenticity, the details appeared consistent with previous knowledge that the helicopter used had been employed by the IRGC in attacks on other ships. This was confirmed by Tasnim hours later. The ship involved is likely the MSC Aries, flagged in Portugal, a cargo ship associated with the London-based Zodiac Maritime company. This company is part of the 'Zodiac' group owned by Israeli billionaire Eyal Ofer. Zodiac declined to comment and referred questions to MSC, which did not respond immediately. The MSC Aries was last located near Dubai and was heading towards the Strait of Hormuz. The ship had turned off its tracking data, which is common for vessels linked to Israel operating in the region. This incident occurs amid escalating tensions between Iran and the West, particularly following an attack attributed to Israel on the Iranian consulate in Syria. Iran did not immediately confirm the seizure of any ship, but Tasnim later confirmed the action and attributed it to the IRGC.
