Seizure of Kian Pirfalak's Birthday Memorabilia; Mahmanir Molaei-Rad: 'It is a Sign of Confirmation of Crimes'

On Sunday, June 4, Kian Pirfalak's mother announced that agents of the Islamic Republic raided their friend's house and took all the items they had prepared for making birthday memorabilia for this child killed in the protests in Izeh. Mahmanir (Zeynab) Molaei-Rad emphasized on her Instagram page that 'taking the lives of children' is 'as easy as drinking water' for the officials of the Islamic Republic, and stressed that the seizure of Kian's birthday memorabilia is also 'a sign of confirmation of the crimes' of the Islamic Republic. She addressed the officials of the Islamic Republic, saying: 'You are afraid even of the birthday of a 10-year-old child.' Kian Pirfalak, a child from Izeh, lost his life on November 16, 2022, during nationwide protests when he was shot by government agents while in the car with his family. His father, Meysam Pirfalak, was also severely injured in this attack and has been hospitalized for months, with his treatment still ongoing. The judiciary of the Islamic Republic has sentenced a protester named Mojahid (Abbas) Korkor to death for the murder of Kian Pirfalak, and several others have been arrested. This is while Kian Pirfalak's family has repeatedly stated that he was killed by gunfire from agents and that Mojahid Korkor had no role in this action. Sajjad Pirfalak, Kian's uncle, published a picture of the complaint text from his parents against the judicial agents as the shooters of their personal vehicle and tweeted: 'Since the beginning of the recent protests in Izeh, at least 13 young people and teenagers have been killed, dozens injured, and several hundred arrested. Kian Pirfalak's family and other victims are calling for the cancellation of death sentences for other imprisoned citizens.' In the complaint by Meysam Pirfalak and Zeynab (Mahmanir) Molaei-Rad, it has been reiterated that 'we have no complaints against Abbas Korkor, known as Mojahid, Bahman Bahmani, and other detainees from Izeh.' Before being killed by government forces' gunfire, Kian Pirfalak had told his father, while the police were directing their car towards the shooting location, 'Dad, let's trust the police this time.' Kamyar Mohin-Sa, an Iranian-Canadian police officer living in Vancouver, told the Persian section of Voice of America that he will 'always remember' Kian's words 'for the rest of his life' and has promised himself to do his best to ensure that 'one day, children in Iran can trust the police too.'
