Hagerty also called for further investigations into the unauthorized disclosure of a letter from the State Department regarding Robert Malley, the U.S. special envoy to Iran, which was published by the Tehran Times, a government-affiliated newspaper. Following the Hamas militants' attack on Israel, senior officials in the Biden administration, including the President of the United States himself, condemned the terrorist attack and stated that the Israeli government not only has the right but the duty to defend its citizens, and in this regard, the United States stands with the Israeli government and people. On Sunday, October 8, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken responded to criticisms from some Republicans who claim that money related to the prisoner exchange agreement with the Islamic Republic was used for Hamas's attack on Israel, stating to ABC that 'to date, not a single dollar from that account has been spent, and for any expenditure, the U.S. Treasury Department closely regulates the use of that money to ensure it is only spent on food, medicine, and medical supplies. Therefore, those who promote this false narrative either have incorrect information or are providing misinformation. In any case, it is wrong.'
