Senator Ted Cruz: Trump's Remarks on Iran's Need for New Leadership Were Significant in the Last Two Days

Senator Ted Cruz, in an interview with Fox News, stated that the U.S. must take every step possible to end the regime of the Islamic Republic. In this interview aired on Sunday, January 28, he mentioned that every year in Iran, Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader, leads chants of 'Death to America' during the 'Death to America Day' celebrations. He praised President Donald Trump for making the right decision to prevent this dictator from acquiring nuclear weapons. Senator Cruz also agreed with President Trump's statement that Iran needs new leadership. He remarked that the Islamic Republic of Iran has been the main state sponsor of terrorism in the world for '50 years,' funding 90% of Hamas and Hezbollah, providing money to terrorists globally, sending terrorists to Venezuela, and targeting Americans. Cruz noted that currently, over a million Iranians are standing up against this oppressive regime with 'unbelievable courage,' and that the U.S. President has strongly told the regime not to kill or target protesters, while also assuring Iranian protesters that America stands with them. Cruz highlighted that in the past two days, a 'truly important step' occurred; the U.S. President unequivocally stated that it is time for Iran to have new leadership and for the religious dictatorship of Ayatollah Khamenei to end, which he believes is very significant. Senator Lindsey Graham echoed Cruz's sentiments, stating he stands with Iranian protesters against the Ayatollah and plans to visit Israel to support 'standing against evil' and 'supporting those who sacrifice for freedom.' Graham praised Trump's policy towards Iran, comparing the fall of the Tehran regime to the fall of the Berlin Wall, and mentioned that a massive wave of 'military, cyber, and psychological attacks' against the Islamic Republic regime is on the way. He asserted that the future leader of Iran will be chosen by the Iranian people. This comes in response to American lawmakers reacting to threatening images against the life of the U.S. President broadcasted on Iranian state television.
