Senator Tom Cotton: Tehran Should Not Be Allowed to Rebuild Its Nuclear and Missile Programs

American Republican Senator Tom Cotton, in a message on social media platform X, emphasized the need to prevent the rebuilding of the Islamic Republic's military capabilities, warning that Tehran and its proxy forces remain a serious threat to the security of the United States and its allies. Senator Cotton wrote regarding Iran that the Islamic Republic "should never be allowed" to revive its nuclear and ballistic missile programs, which "endanger the lives of American forces, Washington's allies, and the security of the United States." This Republican senator also referred to the policies of Donald Trump, the President of the United States, stressing that Trump sent a "clear message" to Iran and its terrorist proxy forces. According to Senator Cotton, these groups have previously killed American citizens and will act again if given the opportunity. Cotton further addressed Hamas in his message, calling for the complete disarmament of this group within a short timeframe. He warned that if Hamas refuses to disarm, it will face "very severe consequences." According to this Republican senator, Hamas has no future in the Gaza Strip, and the international community must decisively prevent this group from continuing its role in regional developments. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu previously stated that Israel would not allow the Islamic Republic to revive its nuclear program and missile capabilities, warning that any action by Tehran against Israel would face "very severe consequences." Netanyahu said in his speech to the Knesset on Monday that he and Donald Trump share a common stance on this issue. He emphasized that both sides are committed to preventing the rebuilding of Iran's nuclear and missile programs. In another part of his speech, the Israeli Prime Minister referred to internal developments in Iran, stating, "When we were discussing Iran, the popular uprising had just begun and has significantly expanded since then." Netanyahu also added that Israel is closely monitoring internal developments in Iran and has a sympathetic stance towards the demands of the protesters. He said, "We in Israel understand the struggle of the Iranian people and their desire for freedom and justice."
