Senior Republican Senator: Israel Will Soon Strike a Heavy Blow to the Islamic Republic

Lindsey Graham, a senior Republican senator in the U.S. Congress, said on Sunday that he believes the time for an Israeli attack on the Iranian government is 'very' close. In an interview with NBC News, Senator Graham stated that he does not have precise information on the timing of the attack but knows that Israel is 'serious' about responding to the Islamic Republic's missile attacks. He added, 'I think [the attack] will happen soon. I think it will be a heavy blow.' According to this senior Republican senator, the more the power of the Iranian government, Hezbollah, and Hamas decreases, the more benefit the Middle East will see. Senator Graham also mentioned that there is now an opportunity to end the war and replace Hamas and Hezbollah in Gaza and Lebanon, which can be achieved through normalizing relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia, something he claims is 'more possible than ever.' On April 14, the Islamic Republic of Iran launched an unprecedented attack by firing about 320 projectiles towards Israel, the vast majority of which were intercepted and destroyed by a coalition of the U.S., U.K., France, Jordan, and Israel before reaching Israeli airspace. On September 30, the Iranian government also fired over 180 ballistic missiles at Israel in response to the killing of Hamas and Hezbollah leaders and a senior commander of the Quds Force by Israel.
