Senior U.S. Lawmaker Urges Biden to Take 'Immediate and Strong' Action Against the Islamic Republic

After the U.S. intelligence community announced that the Iranian government is actively trying to influence the 2024 presidential elections in the U.S., a senior member of Congress criticized President Joe Biden's response to Tehran's actions as 'dangerously inadequate' and urged the U.S. president to take 'immediate and strong' action against the Islamic Republic. According to Fox News, Mike Turner, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, expressed his 'serious concern' about the activities of the Iranian government in a letter to Joe Biden on Tuesday, September 6, 1403 (August 28, 2024). He wrote: '(The FBI) and the U.S. intelligence community have clearly shown that [the Islamic Republic of] Iran is engaged in a systematic campaign aimed at undermining the integrity of our democratic process.' Turner added, 'Moreover, in recent months, several individuals associated with the Iranian government have been involved in plots for political assassination against former President Donald Trump and members of his administration on U.S. soil.' This Republican lawmaker from Ohio further criticized that despite 'the severity of these threats,' the response from the Biden and Harris administration has been 'dangerously inadequate.'
