Setareh Saidi, wife of renowned Iranian singer and musician Bijan Mortazavi, passes away

Setareh Saidi, the wife of Iranian violinist and singer Bijan Mortazavi, passed away on Thursday, September 9, a few days after brain surgery in a hospital in Turkey. According to a reporter from Voice of America, Bijan Mortazavi had recently requested his followers on Instagram to pray for his wife's recovery after announcing the incident. Setareh Saidi, who was also Mortazavi's manager, was born in 1983 and was previously reported to have been born in the United States with a master's degree in management. Active in the field of cinematography, she married Bijan Mortazavi in 2016 and had been his manager in recent years. Mortazavi had been more active than ever in recent years, and they were in Turkey when Saidi underwent surgery. Not much detail about her illness has been released. Four days ago, Mortazavi stated in a video message that ten days prior, his wife Setareh underwent surgery and was supposed to be under anesthesia for five days post-operation, but she did not regain consciousness afterward. He had hoped that his wife's condition would improve by the time of the concert in Austria, which is on her birthday. The young wife's death has elicited reactions from many artists. Moein, a famous singer, wrote on his Instagram: 'I cannot find any words to express my condolences. Enduring this tragedy is hard and painful for all of us who knew her, and I know the grief that weighs on your heart is unbearable.' Omid, another Iranian singer with a history of collaboration with Bijan Mortazavi, also shared a photo of Setareh Saidi and Mortazavi on his Instagram, stating: 'The sad and sudden news of losing your dear wife Setareh Saidi has plunged my family and me into deep sorrow, and it is still very hard for us to believe it. I hope you can find peace with the beautiful memories she left you. Please consider us partners in your grief.' In the past year, during the protests in Iran, Saidi was active and even cut her hair on stage during her husband's performance as a form of protest. A year ago, she wrote: 'Let it remain as a keepsake for you, dear ones who are listening. From the judgments without understanding that targeted my innocent and sincere intentions on my birthday. When I asked the creator of the unique melodies for permission to use the sanctity of his stage as the wife of an artist with an international voice, perhaps to become the voice of Mahsa and Mahsas on my birthday.
