Seven Killed in Two Explosions Outside the Kurdistan Democratic Party Office Near Erbil

An official from the autonomous Kurdistan Region of Iraq has stated that two explosions near the Kurdistan Democratic Party office in Koysanjq, Erbil, have left at least seven dead. According to AFP, the explosions occurred at 10 PM local time. Jalal Karim, the Deputy Minister of Interior for the autonomous Kurdistan Region of Iraq, reported that five members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party were killed in these blasts. The report also mentions that a child and a security force member from the autonomous Kurdistan Region of Iraq were killed as well. Jalal Karim further stated that several individuals were injured in the explosions, but he did not specify the exact number of casualties. Meanwhile, a source informed Al Arabiya that the explosions took place as members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party were leaving their headquarters. The report indicates that a small explosion occurred first, and when several Peshmerga members and civilians approached the site, a second explosion took place. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. The leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party is Khalid Azizi. The party released a statement naming six dead and four injured from the explosions. The 'Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran,' led by Mostafa Hijri, had previously announced its intention to resume its armed presence in Iranian Kurdistan and initiate a new phase of activities against the Islamic Republic. In recent months, several clashes have occurred between the forces of the 'Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran' and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Kurdistan, resulting in dozens of casualties on both sides. In this context, the 'Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran' reported an increase in military presence in Iranian territory, with at least 14 people killed in the latest clashes between the IRGC and the Kurdistan Democratic Party in Sardasht.
