Several Ukrainians Injured in Russian Drone Attack on Kyiv

On Tuesday night, Russia launched an attack on various regions in Ukraine with 89 drones, resulting in three injuries in Kyiv. Serhiy Popko, the head of the Kyiv military administration, announced this news on Telegram on Wednesday, December 7, stating that a drone crashed into a building causing damage. The Ukrainian military also reported that air defense shot down 36 of these 89 drones. These drones were intercepted not only in Kyiv but also in Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Sumy, and Zhytomyr. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported on Wednesday that 25 Ukrainian drones were shot down over the Black Sea and Russian-occupied Crimea, adding that Russian air defense downed another 22 drones during the night. Most of these drones were shot down in areas along the Russia-Ukraine border, including over Rostov, Belgorod, Voronezh, Kursk, and Bryansk. No major damage from Ukrainian attacks has been reported. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in his evening speech on Tuesday, "The only effective way to protect ourselves against these [attacks] is to eliminate Russian weapons and launchers directly on Russian territory." He added, "That is why our ability to strike Russian territory is very important to us. It is the only factor that can limit Russian terror and Russia's capacity for war overall."
