Since the protests last year, he stated that the rights of these people should not be suppressed. Following this statement, billboards featuring Shahab Hosseini's image were removed due to his comments on the recent protests. A pro-government actor also protested; Shahab Hosseini stated: 'The rights of these people should not be suppressed.' He mentioned he no longer has an interest in 'participating in others' projects.' The removal of Shahab Hosseini's billboards and the cancellation of 'Dorehami' from the broadcasting schedule of state media occurred after his remarks. Support for the nationwide protests in Iran was seen at the Golden Globe Awards, with Sean Penn's comments and Sepideh Moafi's attire. An open letter from global artistic and literary figures demanded the immediate release of Taraneh Alidoosti.
