Shahabuddin Haeri: The Leader Has Handed the Helm of the Islamic Republic's Ship to the Storm

Shahabuddin Haeri Shirazi, a writer and critic of the regime, states that Khamenei has handed the helm of the Islamic Republic's ship to the storm. The son of the former Friday prayer leader of Shiraz, who has recently made sharp criticisms of the Supreme Leader in his interviews, wrote on Thursday, July 20, in a post published on the news channel 'Tahkim-e Mellat': 'Even the most foolish individuals devoted to the leadership have understood that the leader of the regime has handed the helm of the Islamic Republic's ship to the storm, and he has neither answers for unfulfilled promises, nor for lost opportunities, nor for the money spent on unprofessional, un-Islamic, and irrational revolutionary goals, which prevented spending on improving the people's livelihood.' He emphasized that 'today the leader is in the loneliest position of his 35-year leadership as the most powerful man in Iran.' He added, 'His friends have also started to whisper about why he did this and why he is doing this? He has shown and proven to everyone that he does not know the correct way and manner of leadership and does not have an open chest to harness the energy of various individuals with different tastes towards improving the country's situation.' Shahabuddin Haeri Shirazi further stated, 'It is strange that with all this evidence of mismanagement and destructive performance, there are still base individuals who compete to praise his destructive policies for political gain and connections.' This writer and researcher concluded: 'God's curse be upon the liars and flatterers who are complicit in the destruction of this country. God's curse be upon the filthy opportunists who trample on the truth and instead of being truthful and a mirror, they deceive and sow the seeds of pride and misguidance.' Shahabuddin Haeri, a political activist and son of the former Friday prayer leader of Shiraz, had previously reacted to Khamenei's explicit opposition to holding any referendum in the Islamic Republic by saying: 'I believe if people are qualified to participate in parliamentary elections, they are certainly qualified to participate in a referendum as well.' He had also criticized the suppression of peaceful protests, stating that if the Islamic Republic does not kill and blind the people, it will see how many will come to the streets.
