Media outlets close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reported that Shahre Qamar, an actress, was arrested on Wednesday evening, August 4. The Fars and Tasnim news agencies announced her arrest, claiming that a legal case had been opened against her for 'causing a sense of psychological insecurity in society.' Shahre Qamar, born in October 1993, is an Iranian actress who previously made headlines for supporting Ebrahim Raisi in the 2021 elections. Reports did not mention the arresting authority or her place of detention. These two media outlets affiliated with the Islamic Republic claimed that Shahre Qamar had posted content on her Instagram account that included 'accusations and insults against the officials' of the Islamic Republic, 'wishing health' for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and 'calling for street riots.' According to an image published by Fars, the actress had written in a story addressed to Netanyahu, who recently underwent surgery, 'I prayed a lot for your health. Stay alive.' Ms. Qamar's Instagram page has 4.2 million followers. Fars also claimed that Shahre Qamar had stated in another story, 'Let’s create a epic on the afternoon of Ashura. With a naked body under the banner of my ancestor Hussein.' The alleged posts were not found on the actress's page, and in her latest Instagram post, she shared an image of the unity of Iranian ethnicities with the caption: 'If there is no Iran, may my body not exist.' During the nationwide protests that began after the death of Mahsa Amini in the custody of the morality police, several artists and actors shared images of themselves without compulsory hijab in support of the protests. Some of these individuals were interrogated and arrested, facing humiliating sentences in recent days. Additionally, in recent days, the arrest of Mohammad Sadeghi, who protested the return of the morality police to the streets, made headlines. Mr. Sadeghi broadcasted his arrest live on Instagram.
