London stocks closed modestly lower on Friday, while oil prices extended their decline as investors adopted a cautious stance. The FTSE 100 fell 16 points, or 0.16%, to finish at 10,409, while the domestically focused FTSE 250 outperformed, rising 0.43% to close at 23,425.77.
Small-cap stocks continued to gain traction, with the AIM All-Share Index posting its second consecutive weekly advance. The index climbed 3.2% to 820.71 over the week, comfortably outperforming the largely flat FTSE 100.
