Sharifeh Mohammadi, labor activist, remains in limbo in Lakan prison in Rasht

According to the news agency HRANA, the news organ of human rights activists in Iran, it has been over four months since the detention and uncertainty surrounding Sharifeh Mohammadi, a imprisoned labor activist. HRANA reports that the investigation into Ms. Mohammadi's case has been completed, but the investigating judge has extended her detention order. So far, security and judicial officials of the Islamic Republic have not provided explanations regarding Sharifeh Mohammadi's detention and the charges against her; however, in Esfand of last year, Cyrus Fathi, the husband of this labor activist, announced that she was accused of supporting a political party. Sharifeh Mohammadi was arrested on December 5 of last year in Rasht by agents of the Islamic Republic and was transferred to Sanandaj prison after a few days. A labor organization in Iran reported that this labor activist was returned from Sanandaj prison to Lakan prison in Rasht on March 6 of last year and emphasized that she was subjected to beatings by interrogators during her detention in Sanandaj. Meanwhile, the Instagram page 'Free Sharifeh Mohammadi' reported on Monday, April 8, that there have been many developments for her and noted that this labor activist has only been able to meet her 12-year-old son once during her detention. This page quoted Cyrus Fathi, Sharifeh Mohammadi's husband, stating that the agents of Lakan prison in Rasht forced her to wear a chador for cabinet meetings, and she has protested against this issue. Sharifeh Mohammadi, the imprisoned labor activist, has been accused of supporting a political party. Officials at Evin, Sanandaj, and Mahabad prisons are opposing medical leave for three labor and cultural prisoners. The Islamic Republic's prison organization opposed the medical leave of Nasrin Jafari.
