Sharifeh Mohammadi to be Tried on November 15

According to news sources, the trial of Sharifeh Mohammadi will be held on November 15 in the second branch of the Revolutionary Court of Rasht. The campaign defending Sharifeh Mohammadi has confirmed this news, stating that her trial is taking place while 'the fabricated scenario by the Ministry of Intelligence and the unfounded charge of 'baghi' (rebellion) had led to a death sentence for Sharifeh Mohammadi.' The campaign's statement noted that Sharifeh Mohammadi's resistance against pressure for forced confession, the lack of evidence in the indictment against her, and the pursuit by international human rights organizations and labor unions left no option for the Supreme Court but to revoke the death sentence. The statement also mentioned that the UN fact-finding committee and various human rights organizations have opened a case based on the complaint from the campaign and are investigating various aspects of human rights violations in this case. The campaign has also called for her acquittal from all charges and her immediate and unconditional release. Reports indicate that Sharifeh Mohammadi's lawyer announced on October 13 that the death sentence against this civil activist had been revoked by the Supreme Court. Sharifeh Mohammadi was arrested in December of last year and on July 4, 2024, was sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of Rasht on charges of 'baghi.' Mozdak Azar stated that the revocation of Sharifeh Mohammadi's death sentence is the result of the tireless efforts of activists. Larisa Waters, Sharifeh Mohammadi's political guardian, stated that the struggle for her freedom will continue. The campaign has called for the 'unconditional' release of this labor activist.
