Shin Bet: An Israeli Hired by the Islamic Republic to Assassinate Netanyahu Arrested

The Israeli internal security agency (Shin Bet) and the police announced on Thursday, September 29, that a civilian Israeli who was hired by the Islamic Republic to assassinate the Israeli Prime Minister, the Minister of Defense, or the head of Shin Bet was arrested last month. Shin Bet and the Israeli police stated that the suspect had entered Iran illegally twice and received money for his missions. According to investigations by Shin Bet and the police, this Jewish Israeli citizen was a businessman who had lived in Turkey for a long time and had business and social relations with Turkish and Iranian nationals. The Times of Israel reported that the name of this 73-year-old businessman is Moti Maman. He was charged on Thursday. His lawyer claimed that despite his client's significant contributions to Israel's security, he made a 'judgment error.' Last month, the Israeli prosecutor's office also charged a citizen of the country for having connections with an Islamic Republic agent and receiving cryptocurrency from him in exchange for cooperation. According to the indictment, Eden Dabas, an Israeli citizen, had several profiles on the Telegram app, and the Islamic Republic agent had contacted him through these profiles. The connection between Dabas and the Islamic Republic agent was established from June 6 to August 5 of this year, during which time Dabas received cryptocurrency worth $12,000. According to the indictment, Dabas knew from the beginning that the agent was an Islamic Republic operative and that the tasks assigned to him were from Israel's enemy. The first task assigned to Dabas was to prepare posters featuring a bloodied hand and the phrase 'Stand on the Right Side of History,' which he was supposed to install in public places. After that, Dabas prepared more posters, one of which invited people to establish an armed revolution in Israel. According to the indictment, he sent images of these posters in public places to the Islamic Republic agent and then took them down. Another task assigned to Dabas was to create a Telegram group titled 'People's Army' to assist the Islamic Republic agent in contacting more Israeli citizens. The Islamic Republic agent had asked Dabas to prepare a doll, decapitate it, and send it along with a threatening message and a knife to a security official he believed to be 'important.' Following the Islamic Republic agent's request, Dabas prepared this doll but left it in front of his father's house and sent a photo of it to the Islamic Republic agent to make him believe that Dabas had completed his task. Setting fires in forests, smashing car windows, painting murals with the theme of armed revolution, burning cars, and hiding cash in three locations are other charges against Dabas. The indictment against Eden Dabas contains charges similar to those recently brought against several other Israeli citizens. Three Israeli citizens were arrested in late July for performing similar tasks for an Islamic Republic agent. Shin Bet and the Israeli police stated in a joint statement that establishing connections with Israeli citizens through fake accounts is 'a well-known method of Iranian intelligence organizations.' According to this joint statement, many fake accounts have been identified by Iranian security forces in recent months, and extensive information about them and their operations has been collected. The statement noted that Islamic Republic agents contact Israeli citizens using platforms such as Instagram, Telegram, WhatsApp, Facebook, and X, soliciting their cooperation for money.
