Shooting in Tehran; Islamic Consultative Assembly: No Connection to Us

The Public Relations Office of the Islamic Consultative Assembly announced in a statement on Tuesday evening, November 21, that the shooting on Mojahidin Enqelab Street near Shafa Hospital and around the legislative building had no connection to the Assembly. According to the statement citing officials, the shooter is 'an employee of a refinery company, born in 1982, and residing in Isfahan province.' Reports from Iranian media indicate that the shooter was arrested by police. This incident received significant media coverage and was also mentioned on social media. Meanwhile, the 'House of the Nation' news agency, affiliated with the Assembly, provided further details about the arrested individual, stating that he fired a licensed shotgun into the air and did not injure anyone. According to this report, the motive of this individual will be determined during the interrogation. The Associated Press noted that the area around the Assembly has long been a gathering place for protests by workers, teachers, and retirees. The news agency also mentioned that about six years ago, the Islamic State group claimed responsibility for two attacks on the Assembly and the tomb of Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic.
