Siamak Namazi's Family Confirms Transfer of Four Iranian-American Prisoners from Evin Prison

The Namazi family has recently confirmed through a direct video call that Iranian-American prisoners Siamak Namazi, Emad Sharqi, and Morad Tahbaz have been released from Evin Prison and are on their way to house arrest. They were informed early Thursday morning that these three, along with a fourth unidentified American hostage, were taken together to the prison office. There, the four prisoners were officially notified that they would be released from Evin Prison and transferred to house arrest, and they subsequently agreed in writing to this transfer. The families of the four American hostages had previously been informed by the Biden administration yesterday afternoon that these four were expected to be moved to house arrest. Although the fourth American prisoner was not directly seen leaving the prison, given their joint presence at the prison office, it is believed that this American was transferred along with the other three, although this has not been confirmed. It appears that a fifth American, an unidentified woman whose detention was recently made public, is currently under house arrest. In response to these developments, Babak Namazi, Siamak's brother, stated: 'We are grateful that Siamak and the other Americans have been released from Evin Prison and are under house arrest. While this is a positive development, we will not cease our efforts until Siamak and the others return home. We continue to count the days until this happens. We have endured eight years of horrific and indescribable suffering and hope to be together as a family again.' Jared Genser, Siamak Namazi's legal advisor, also said: 'The transfer of the American hostages from Evin Prison to house arrest is an important development. While I hope this is the first step towards their ultimate freedom, the current situation is at best the beginning of the end and nothing more. However, there are no guarantees about what happens next.' It is expected that these four prisoners will be kept under guard and security supervision at a hotel during their house arrest.
