Six Arrested in London Police Operation Against PKK Activities

London police, the capital of the UK, have stated that six individuals were arrested as part of a counter-terrorism investigation related to suspicious activities associated with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which is recognized as a banned group. In a statement released on Wednesday, December 7, the police announced that these arrests took place early Wednesday local time during a large-scale operation across several locations in London. According to the statement, the arrested individuals include a 59-year-old woman, a 27-year-old man, a 31-year-old woman, a 62-year-old man, a 56-year-old man, and a 23-year-old man. Officials have indicated that there is no immediate threat to the public in connection with these investigations. Helen Flanagan from the London Counter-Terrorism Command stated, 'This operation is the result of extensive research and operations concerning activities we believe are linked to the terrorist group PKK. These arrests were targeted, and individuals suspected of involvement in terrorist activities related to this group were focused on.' She further added, 'I hope these arrests demonstrate that we do not tolerate any terrorist activities and will act in the event of any threats that could harm our community in the UK or elsewhere.' As part of this investigation, officers are searching eight locations across London, including a Kurdish community center in Harringay, located in North London. London police stated that search operations at all these sites are ongoing. Officials noted that these investigations and operations are aimed at protecting everyone, 'especially Turkish and Kurdish communities.' Turkish bases on the outskirts of Aleppo were targeted by rockets from the Syrian Army and Syrian Democratic Forces. Turkey targeted PKK positions in northern Iraq and Syria following a deadly attack in Ankara. Turkey has conducted extensive airstrikes against PKK positions in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The Erdogan government dismissed mayors of two other cities in Turkish Kurdish regions.
