Six Killed in Clash Between Police Forces and Jaish al-Adl

The spokesperson for the Law Enforcement Force (NAJA) reported that five members of Jaish al-Adl and one police soldier were killed in a clash in the Khash region of Sistan and Baluchestan province. According to Tasnim News Agency on Tuesday (June 13), Saeed Montazer al-Mahdi stated that this clash is still ongoing and has not yet ended. He added that police officers, during the confrontation with members of this group who intended to carry out 'sabotage actions' inside Iran, killed five of them. According to him, police officers also discovered and seized 'considerable amounts of explosives' from the group members. The local website Asr Hamoon, citing Hossein Rahimi, the commander of the Law Enforcement Force in Sistan and Baluchestan, reported that four members of Jaish al-Adl were killed during the clashes, and the fifth victim was one of three Jaish al-Adl members who had managed to escape. Mr. Rahimi added that the search for two other individuals continues. He mentioned that from this group, 'quantities of weapons and ammunition, explosive traps, about 60 kilograms of explosives, as well as various books and pamphlets on bomb usage and anti-religious literature' were discovered. The website stated that the Jaish al-Adl team consisted of eight members. Asr Hamoon added that following this clash, special police teams from other cities in the province have been dispatched to the conflict area. The Young Journalists Club reported that the clashes began around 10:30 AM today on the Khash-Saravan route. It is likely that after the clash ends, updated statistics on the number of casualties from both sides will be published. The Jaish al-Adl group has previously clashed multiple times with the Islamic Republic's military forces in Sistan and Baluchestan. This group has also claimed responsibility for several armed actions in eastern Iran and the abduction and murder of several Iranian border guards.
