Some Members of Sabotage Teams in Khuzestan Killed

Following statements from Iranian security officials regarding the discovery of "terrorist plots by Takfiri Wahhabi groups," the head of the judiciary in Khuzestan stated on Wednesday that some members of sabotage teams intending to enter the central part of the country were killed in this province. According to Tasnim News Agency, Farhad Afsharnia reported during a meeting with the representative of Ayatollah Khamenei in Khuzestan that "several sabotage operational teams have been identified and arrested in recent days in this province" and stated: "There is no external or internal threat that remains hidden from the view of law enforcement and security officials in the province." Farhad Afsharnia further stated: "Recently, during two or three operations, several sabotage teams intending to enter the central regions of the country from Khuzestan and carry out sabotage operations were arrested, and some members of these teams were killed." The head of the judiciary in Khuzestan did not specify the number of casualties and detainees; however, the Iranian Minister of Intelligence stated yesterday that 10 people have been arrested in this regard. Mahmoud Alavi, the Minister of Intelligence, mentioned that the detainees were caught by intelligence forces in three border and central provinces, but did not name these border provinces. The Minister of Intelligence stated: "The terrorists had identified 50 explosive targets, and explosives for some of the targets were prepared while others were in the process of preparation, logistics, and acquisition." According to him, during operations conducted from June 15 to June 21, 2016, "the equivalent of 100 kilograms of ready-to-explode materials and their precursor compounds were discovered, and the delivery of 2 tons of these materials to the terrorists was also prevented." This comes as the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence announced on Tuesday the discovery of "one of the largest terrorist plots by Takfiri Wahhabi groups." A film shown by Iranian state television depicted the discovery of "Takfiri groups."
