The news agency "Halosh," which covers news from Sistan and Baluchestan, reported in recent days on the actions of government agents to prevent the large number of Nowruz travelers from visiting the Makki Mosque and meeting with Molavi Abdolhamid. Molavi Abdolhamid, a Sunni Friday prayer leader in Zahedan, criticizes the policies of the Islamic Republic and high-ranking officials in his weekly sermons. According to documents published in the fall of 2022, at the same time that security officials requested the arrest of Molavi Abdolhamid, Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, opposed this request and called for his "discrediting." Earlier this week, government forces summoned and threatened three members of the Makki Mosque reception team, named Molavi "Abdolmalek Malekzadeh," Molavi "Mahdi Barahoui," and Molavi "Nematollah Reigi," who were guiding Nowruz travelers. According to Halosh, several mobile phones of Nowruz guests were stolen by plainclothes individuals around the Makki Mosque, and the windows of some travelers' vehicles were also broken by so-called plainclothes forces. Halosh reports that Baluch activists believe that the actions of government plainclothes agents in stealing mobile phones and vehicles from Nowruz travelers and breaking car windows were aimed at instilling fear and preventing people from attending the Makki Mosque and meeting with Molavi Abdolhamid.
