Starmer: Britain is Working to Maintain the US-Europe Alliance

Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister of Britain, announced that his country will strive to maintain the alliance between the United States and Europe and should not allow internal disagreements to distract them from focusing on 'external enemies.' According to BBC, these remarks came after Donald Trump's special envoy for Ukraine stated at the Munich Security Conference that Europe would have no place in the peace negotiations for Ukraine. Starmer stated, 'This is a pivotal moment for our national security that we must confront with the realities of today's world and the threat posed by Russia.' He emphasized, 'It is clear that Europe must play a more prominent role in NATO, as we work alongside the United States to ensure Ukraine's future and counter the threat from Russia.' Starmer added, 'Britain will strive to maintain the unity between the US and Europe.' He also warned that 'there should be no fissures in this coalition that distract our focus from external enemies.' Meanwhile, France is negotiating with its allies to hold an informal European leaders' summit on Ukraine. Four European diplomats have stated that this summit is likely to take place on Monday. BBC reported that Starmer is expected to attend this meeting in Paris. The British Prime Minister's office has not yet responded to Reuters' request for comment on this matter.
