Statement of the United Front of Baluchistan, Iran on the Occasion of July 18 - 2003-07-02. In the past two weeks, the Iranian nation witnessed the bravery and valor of heroic students across Iran. The Iranian people saw how this selfless young generation, free from ideological tensions and fanatical sectarianism, fought against the bloodsucking bats in the dark nights. These brave youths, without any claim to leadership or ideological hegemony, marched in compact, united, and revolutionary ranks, equipped and armed only with the torch of knowledge, honesty, and light, to combat the darkness and shook the weak and unfounded foundations of the regime of ignorance and corruption. Students, as the children of workers, employees, teachers, merchants, shopkeepers, and the unemployed, are the true representatives of Iranian society. Despite beatings, torture, and imprisonment, they conveyed the cries of a captive and imprisoned nation to the world, and we saw how thousands of them were sent to the prisons and medieval torture chambers of the tyrannical and oppressive Islamic Republic regime at the beginning of their youth. July 18 is forever recorded in the history of Iran as the anniversary of the heroic struggles of students and a symbol of the crimes of the Islamic Republic regime. The United Front of Baluchistan sends greetings to all students and segments of the people who, with their unity and bravery, conveyed the voice of the Iranian nation to the world and assures them that it will always stand by them and assist them in their struggle against the demons of ugliness and darkness. The Islamic Republic regime announced the closure of universities in Sistan and Baluchistan and student dormitories in Baluchistan a week before the July 18 uprising and practically established martial law in Zahedan. We expect all fighting and freedom-seeking students and the Iranian nation, especially in Baluchistan, to hold the July 18 protest ceremonies with greater revolutionary grandeur despite the terrifying police atmosphere. We expect political forces abroad to reflect the depth of the catastrophe that the Iranian religious tyranny has created in society by commemorating the historic July 18 uprising and to consolidate their ranks around the principles of democracy, development, social welfare, and adherence to the global human rights covenant, free from self-centeredness and despite ideological and doctrinal differences. On July 18, members, officials, and supporters of the United Front of Baluchistan in various countries, along with other fighting compatriots, will convey the voice of the imprisoned Iranian nation to the world and honor the memory of the innocent victims of the student movement.
