Summoning Hanieh Daemi; "Agents of the Islamic Republic are struggling to prevent the start of protests"

Threats against the families of victims and civil activists by the security institutions of the Islamic Republic have intensified as the anniversary of Mahsa Amini approaches. After Ali and Pouria Rouhi, the father and brother of Hamidreza Rouhi, one of the victims of the nationwide protests, announced their 'inability' to be active on Instagram until the anniversary of Hamidreza, Atena Daemi, a human rights defender, also reported that her sister Hanieh was summoned 'by phone' to the 'Security Police' on Sunday, August 13. Additionally, Ansiyeh Daemi, another sister of Atena Daemi, tweeted that last week her mother was 'called and threatened with the arrest and killing of her children.' The threats and arrests of some civil activists by the security institutions of the Islamic Republic have intensified as the anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death in custody approaches. Ali Rouhi, the father of the deceased protester Hamidreza Rouhi in Tehran, commemorated 'the name and memory of all the martyrs of the homeland' in an Instagram story, writing: 'This is my last story until the anniversary of Hamidreza. Thank you all for your efforts to keep the name and memory of our son alive.' Simultaneously, Pouria Rouhi also announced in an Instagram story using the hashtag 'against forgetfulness' his 'inability' to be active on this messaging platform until the anniversary of his brother Hamidreza Rouhi. The pressure on civil activists and victims' families in Iran is occurring as the commander of the IRGC described the 'Women, Life, Freedom' protests as the 'strongest, most dangerous, and serious' 'struggle' against the Islamic Republic on a 'global' scale and warned of its recurrence on the anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death. Hossein Salami claimed that 'the enemy intends to incite unrest again on the anniversary of the events of Fall 2022' and called for 'prevention' of this.
