Summoning Mahdokht Damghani Pour, Lawyer of Mohammad Qabadi Lou, to the Media Prosecutor's Office; Amir Reisiian: Our Invitation Was for a Debate

Amir Reisiian, a lawyer who invited the judicial authorities of the Islamic Republic to a 'media debate' following the execution of his client Mohammad Qabadi Lou, announced the summoning of his colleague Mahdokht Damghani Pour to the media prosecutor's office. On Tuesday, February 23, Reisiian wrote on the social media platform X, 'Regarding the execution of the qisas (retribution) sentence for Mohammad Qabadi Lou, we invited the judiciary to a media debate,' but the judiciary preferred 'trial in the media prosecutor's office.' He added that on Tuesday, his colleague 'Mahdokht Damghani Pour was summoned and presented the relevant documents and evidence.' Reisiian's invitation for a debate came after the judiciary-affiliated news agency Mizan rejected the statements of Mohammad Qabadi Lou's lawyer regarding the case's review in the Supreme Court of the Islamic Republic not being 'resolved,' claiming that the case had been 'rejected twice by the Supreme Court.' Previously, Mahdokht Damghani Pour, another lawyer for Mohammad Qabadi Lou, had referred to multiple flaws and doubts in the case of this executed protester, deeming his qisas as 'unjust' and resulting in the 'slaughter of law and Sharia' and 'discrediting the judiciary.' Damghani Pour also pointed out that her client was deprived of a final meeting with his family and that prison officials lied on the day of this political defendant's execution, stating to the 'Iran Watch' website that he was executed in the 'most secretive manner possible.' Furthermore, Mohammad Qabadi Lou, a 24-year-old protester with bipolar disorder, was executed on February 22 for the alleged murder of a police officer named Farid Kermpour Hasanvand. Damghani Pour listed among the issues in this case the judiciary's disregard for her client's bipolar disorder and lack of access to documents regarding how the police officer was killed.
