Summoning of Over 50 Amir Kabir University Students to Disciplinary Committee

The Amir Kabir Newsletter reported that the security office of Amir Kabir University reviewed footage from security cameras related to the protests of 2022 and summoned over 50 students to the disciplinary committee. According to the report, coinciding with the start of the third week of university reopening, a new wave of security crackdowns has begun, with at least 50 students summoned to the disciplinary office of the university. The report published by the Amir Kabir Newsletter indicates that the security office summoned some students due to their participation in protests after reviewing images and videos from last year. The report emphasizes that some students also reported that their summons was related to dress code issues and lack of hijab. With the beginning of the new academic year, universities have witnessed a new approach from the Ministry of Science in dealing with various issues, including hijab. In this context, the public relations channel of 'United Students' reported that on October 25, the security office of Tehran University prevented students wearing headscarves from entering through the main gate and announced that students were 'required to wear a hijab and a coat down to the knee' for entry. According to this student channel, 'hijab patrols have also started operating in the central area of Tehran University.' Reports indicate that with the start of the academic year in universities, alongside the pursuit of the final approval of the 'Chastity and Hijab Bill,' a security atmosphere has prevailed in educational environments. Tehran University has also taken action against cafes, terminating and 'not renewing' contracts, which has turned off the lights of cafes. A Ferdowsi University student was expelled after 'refusing to confess to his charges.'
