Summoning of Two Labor and Union Activists to the Intelligence Office in Sanandaj

On Thursday, October 11, news sources reported the summoning of Reza Sharifeh, a teachers' union activist, and his son Armin Sharifeh, a labor activist, to the Intelligence Office in Sanandaj. According to reports published on social media, including the Telegram channel 'Iranian Teachers' Union Challenge', agents from the Islamic Republic's Ministry of Intelligence visited Reza Sharifeh's home, presented a search warrant, and confiscated electronic devices belonging to him and his son Armin. Following this, the agents requested that the father and son report to the Ministry's office in Sanandaj. The information channel noted that Armin Sharifeh suffers from a specific illness and is under medical care. Armin Sharifeh had previously been tried in the courts of the Islamic Republic. In this context, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network reported on February 25 of last year that a court session for Armin Sharifeh, a labor activist and member of the Sanandaj Bakers' Workers Union, was held in Branch 4 of the Sanandaj Court of Appeals. According to this report, the judge declared the charge against Armin Sharifeh as membership in illegal organizations. In recent years, the Islamic Republic's security and judicial actions against labor activists, teachers, and retirees have intensified, leading to severe criticism from labor and professional unions worldwide. Concerns have heightened regarding the well-being of Zartosht Ahmadiraghab, who is on the eleventh day of a hunger strike in protest against fabricated charges in prison. The campaign to defend Sharifeh Mohammadi has called for the annulment of the death sentence, stating it is a significant rejection of state-sanctioned murder. The expulsion of Ismail Abdi on World Teachers' Day has prompted the National Council of Educators to emphasize the establishment of new organizations. The Syndicate of Workers of the Tehran Bus Company has called for the release of Davood Razavi, Ebrahim Madadi, and political prisoners.
