Summons of Fatemeh Sepahri to Court; Charge: 'Condemning Hamas's Terrorist Attack'

Asghar Sepahri, the brother of Fatemeh Sepahri, reported that his sister has been summoned to court on a new charge, believed to be related to her condemnation of Hamas's terrorist attack. Asghar Sepahri explained on social media platform 'X' that a summons was issued by Soheila Ghaemi, the head of the fifth branch of the Revolutionary Court in Mashhad, requiring Fatemeh to appear in court on May 6 from Vakilabad Prison to respond to the new charge. He noted that the details of this new case are unclear, but it is suspected to be related to her condemnation of Hamas's terrorist attack on Israel on October 7 of last year. On Saturday, April 6, Asghar Sepahri announced on X that his sister has been accused of 'supporting Israel' due to her condemnation of the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel. He shared a post with explanations from their mother regarding this matter, stating: 'Fatemeh Sepahri condemned a Hamas terrorist attack on Israel two weeks after her open-heart surgery last year, and on Saturday, April 6, she was accused of supporting Israel during a virtual interrogation session from Vakilabad Prison.' Fatemeh Sepahri, a political activist and one of the signatories of the '14 Statement' for the transition from the Islamic Republic and the resignation of its leader Ali Khamenei, was last arrested on September 21, 2022, shortly after the death of Mahsa Amini and the beginning of nationwide protests, and was sentenced to 18 years in prison on charges of 'propaganda against the Islamic Republic, collaborating with hostile governments, and insulting Khamenei.' This political prisoner, despite her illness and several surgeries including open-heart surgery, remains in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad. Another case has been opened against Fatemeh Sepahri; the judge has accused her of supporting Israel. Fatemeh's mother stated that after Fatemeh condemned Hamas, she was also accused of supporting Israel. Fatemeh Sepahri was transferred to the prison infirmary during a virtual session with a 'psychological interrogator.' The case of Mohammad Hossein Sepahri was sent for court scheduling after about six months of detention. A new case has been opened against Fatemeh Sepahri; the judge has accused her of 'supporting Israel.'
