Suspension of Flights by Several Major Airlines to Iran Amid Nationwide Uprising

As Iran enters the third week of a nationwide anti-government uprising, an increasing number of international airlines have suspended their flights to Iran. This action comes in response to escalating unrest, internet outages, and security concerns. According to information available on airport websites and official statements, several major airlines, including Qatar Airways, Emirates, Turkish Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Pegasus, and FlyDubai, have canceled their flights to cities such as Tehran, Mashhad, Tabriz, Shiraz, and Isfahan in the past 48 hours. Data from Dubai International Airport indicates that at least 17 flights by FlyDubai to various destinations in Iran have been canceled. Turkish Airlines has also canceled its flights to Iran, which include flights to the capital and other major cities. Additionally, low-cost airlines like AJet and Pegasus have also halted multiple flights. Meanwhile, the Doha International Airport website has reported that Qatar Airways flights between Doha and Tehran have been canceled. This wave of flight suspensions occurs amid the ongoing uprising and protests taking place throughout Iran. These protests have been accompanied by violent crackdowns by government forces, resulting in the deaths of several citizens and widespread arrests.
