Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: Five 'Syrian Militia Members of Hezbollah' Injured in Israeli Attack on Damascus Suburbs

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that five 'Syrian militia members of Hezbollah Lebanon' were injured as a result of an Israeli attack on the suburbs of Damascus. According to this organization, which monitors developments in the Syrian war and is based in the UK, farms housing Iranian and Hezbollah militia members in the 'Al-Bhadliyeh' area in the suburbs of Damascus were targeted in the attack on Thursday. It is unclear whether a specific individual or military official was the target of this alleged Israeli attack. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense of Bashar al-Assad's government confirmed the attack and claimed that 'two civilians' were injured as a result. According to this ministry's claims, 'a residential building' was targeted in the attack, causing 'some material damage.' Based on statistics released by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, this is the twenty-seventh Israeli attack on Syrian territory this year, which has resulted in the deaths of 60 militia members and injuries to 48 others. According to these statistics, among those killed in these attacks are 12 members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, 13 members of Hezbollah Lebanon, 14 Syrian militia members supported by the Iranian government, and 10 non-Syrian militia members supported by the Iranian government. Since the terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7 against Israel, Hezbollah Lebanon, as the most important proxy group of the Islamic Republic in the region, has been conducting almost daily attacks against the positions of the Israeli army in northern Israel and also against Israeli civilians located near the common border between Lebanon and Israel. In response, Israel has intensified the frequency and intensity of its attacks against Hezbollah positions and infrastructure in Lebanon and Syria, and contrary to its usual practice, has accepted responsibility for several attacks in Syria. The Israeli army has warned that if Hezbollah does not stop its attacks and moves away from border areas, it may lead to a widespread war with Israel, which could affect the entire country of Lebanon. Hezbollah's rocket attack on northern Israel resulted in at least one death. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights states that at least 9 Iranian-affiliated fighters were killed in airstrikes in Syria. An Israeli army spokesman stated that the Islamic Republic is responsible for the increase in tensions in the region. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also reported that a Hezbollah commander and four militia members were killed in Deir ez-Zor.
