Taraneh Alidoosti Diagnosed with 'Severe and Unknown Illness'; Her Mother Asks for Love and Prayers

Taraneh Alidoosti's mother, Naderah Hakim-Elahi, announced during a live Instagram session that the renowned Iranian artist has been diagnosed with a 'unknown illness' whose origin is 'unclear.' She urged everyone to 'send love and pray for her.' On Sunday, April 21, she stated, 'Taraneh is not well; she is suffering from a severe illness, especially since the origin is unclear. I was worried, but I have come out of that worry. Please send her love and pray for her.' Taraneh Alidoosti first entered the film industry in 2001 with the movie 'I Am Taraneh, 15 Years Old' and soon became one of Iran's prominent acting figures. Alongside her acting career, her social and civil concerns, particularly her statements in support of women's rights, have frequently made headlines. Alidoosti was one of the actors who supported the nationwide protests in 2022 following the death of Mahsa Amini, holding the slogan 'Women, Life, Freedom,' removing her hijab, and criticizing the 'excessive remarks' of the Islamic Republic officials, stating, 'I will not wear the cloth that killed my sisters for your films.' This action led to her arrest, and she was later released from Evin Prison after posting bail. According to Zahra Minoui, Alidoosti's lawyer, a 'six-month supervisory order' has been issued for her in her latest case concerning an Instagram post about Armita Garavand, which prohibits her from publishing any posts with political content or that disturb public opinion during this period. Additionally, leaked documents from the judiciary by the hacker group Justice Ali, which were previously exclusively provided to VOA, list Taraneh Alidoosti alongside several artistic figures as 'special figures' that must be 'managed' by intelligence agencies.
