Taraneh Alidoosti's National ID Code Blocked and She is Banned from Flying

An informed source confirmed to Radio Farda reports that the national ID code of Taraneh Alidoosti, a cinema and television actress, has been blocked and she is banned from flying. Mina Akbari, a journalist and filmmaker residing in Iran, reported on her X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, January 7, that Ms. Alidoosti's national ID code has been blocked for all domestic and international flights, and she is 'banned from flying.' According to Ms. Akbari, Taraneh Alidoosti intended to travel to Qeshm with her daughter but discovered her 'flying ban' at the airport. The Radio Farda source also confirmed this news, stating that this restriction had not been previously communicated to Taraneh Alidoosti, and there was nothing of this nature in the ruling issued against her. Taraneh Alidoosti had been detained for a period due to her support for the nationwide protests in 2022 and was sentenced by the Tehran Criminal Court 2 to 5 months of imprisonment, which has been suspended for 5 years. She has also been banned from working by the Ministry of Culture for refusing to comply with mandatory hijab laws. Nevertheless, images of her without the mandatory hijab continue to circulate in public. Following the 'Women, Life, Freedom' protests, several well-known artistic figures, especially in cinema, have publicly opposed the mandatory hijab and have faced judicial repercussions for their actions. Taraneh Alidoosti's mother reported that she has been suffering from an illness with an 'unknown origin.'
