Teacher Dies in Khash While Rescuing Students

A teacher in Khash lost his life while rescuing students from a school in the border area of "Routak" in the central district of "Khash" in Sistan and Baluchestan province, and another teacher was injured. The local site "Asr Hamoon" reported that on Sunday (April 15), two teachers were killed and injured while trying to save students who were under a collapsing wall. The identity of the deceased teacher was reported as "Hamidreza Gangoozehi" and the injured teacher as "Abdulraouf Shahnavazi." Alireza Nakhaei, the head of education in Sistan and Baluchestan, stated that the collapse of a dilapidated wall in the path of the students was the main cause of the incident. Nakhaei added that recent rainfall in the area had weakened the wall's stability, leading to the tragedy as the teachers attempted to save students nearby. According to him, after rescuing the students, the two teachers were buried under the rubble, and it took some time to rescue them, ultimately resulting in "Hamid Gangoozehi" dying on the way to the hospital. Mohammad Akbar Chakerzahi, the governor of Khash, also stated in an interview with IRNA that the cause of the wall's collapse, which belonged to an old and dilapidated rural house, was due to "a severe storm and whirlwind." Chakerzahi mentioned that the deceased teacher noticed the wall collapsing during recess and quickly acted to save the students. He noted that the wall of the rural house adjacent to the school had become damp due to recent rains, posing a danger to the students. Fifty-three students study at the "Shahid Rahimi" elementary school in the "Nokjoui" village of the border area of "Routak" in "Khash." The border area of "Routak" stretches 124 kilometers in the central part of Khash, adjacent to Pakistan. Khash is located 185 kilometers south of Zahedan, the capital of Sistan and Baluchestan.
