Tehran University Confirms Student Transferred to 'Clinic' After 'Hijab Warning'; Lost Consciousness Due to 'Stress'

The public relations department of Tehran University responded to reports of a female student losing consciousness due to the actions of security personnel at the university's agricultural campus regarding her optional hijab, attributing it to 'stress' caused by the warning. However, the Fars News Agency, linked to security institutions, referred to this as the third 'Mahsa-making' project. Nima Shayan, the university's communications director, told the 'Iran Watch' website that security personnel warned two students for 'law-breaking and norm-breaking,' and one of these students was transferred to the clinic due to 'stress' from her 'norm-breaking.' This claim by Shayan comes amid reports from student channels stating that 'on October 2, the university's security approached a group of students and a verbal altercation ensued. The security's handling was such that one female student fainted and was taken to the hospital.' Shayan, however, claimed that the incident is being 'exaggerated' by certain groups and that those spreading 'false information' are attempting to use the tactic of 'exaggeration' in psychological operations. He asserted that 'the video related to the student's visit to the clinic, which she personally attended, exists and proves that she was not unconscious and walked into the clinic on her own.' The Fars News Agency, which is known for publishing 'forced confessions' and 'scenarios from security institutions,' reported this incident under the headline 'Failure of the Third Mahsa-making Project,' citing the university's public relations director, stating that it was merely a case of 'low blood pressure' of a student. This news agency, linked to security institutions, dismissed the verbal and physical altercation between the security and the student as claims from Persian-language media outside the country. The crackdown on students for not adhering to mandatory hijab rules has intensified in the new academic year, and recently, a 16-year-old student named 'Armita Garavand' also faced an incident in the Tehran metro that led to her hospitalization. Her fainting in the metro, following her presence without mandatory hijab throughout the journey to the train car, has raised speculations about how this student was harmed. The Islamic Republic has labeled these incidents as a 'conspiracy by the enemy' and has implemented a security model similar to that used during last year's protests following the death of Mahsa Amini while in custody of the morality police.
