Tensions Continue at Lebanon Border; Several Rockets Fired into Northern Israel

A correspondent from Voice of America in Israel reported that several rockets were fired from Lebanese territory towards northern Israel in the early hours of Friday, October 20. According to Arash Sigarchi, the Israeli army responded to these attacks by targeting several positions of Hezbollah in Lebanon with drone strikes. With ongoing tensions and the possibility of increased attacks from Hezbollah, the Israeli Ministry of Defense announced the evacuation of 20,000 residents of the city of Kiryat Shmona, near the Lebanese border. Earlier, a Lebanese civilian was killed on Thursday, October 19, during intense gunfire exchanges between Israeli forces and Hezbollah near the border of the two countries. Additionally, according to the Associated Press, the Hezbollah militia, which is financially and militarily supported by the Islamic Republic, has threatened that if Israel seeks to destroy Hamas, it may join the war. The Hamas group also receives financial and military support from Tehran. The German Defense Minister emphasized his country's full support for Israel, while the United States and Britain urged their citizens to leave Lebanon. Tensions at the Lebanon-Israel border continue, and exchanges of fire between Israel and Hezbollah have intensified.
