The Attacker on Bus Passengers in Germany is Born in Iran

After 10 people were injured in a knife attack by an individual in the city of Lübeck in the Schleswig-Holstein state of Germany, the state prosecutor announced that this person was born in Iran and held German citizenship. According to officials from this state, the attacker is approximately 34 years old. The German police stated on Friday that as a result of the knife attack on bus passengers in Lübeck, located in the north of the country, 10 people were injured. The local newspaper Lübecker Nachrichten reported, without citing a source, that the suspect attacked passengers with a knife. Lübeck is located northeast of Hamburg, and the attack occurred in the Kücknitz neighborhood of the city. A police spokesperson told the Associated Press that officials are still investigating the details of the incident and the motive behind the attack. State officials have not considered the possibility of terrorist motives in this attack to be likely. The German news agency also reported, citing the police, that three individuals sustained relatively serious injuries while five others had minor injuries. Two years ago, at least 10 people were killed in a shooting by a young man of Iranian descent near the Olympia shopping center in Munich.
